This was our third commission from Forty Clothing at the Fort Shopping Centre in Glasgow. They were taking over an old Patisserie Valerie and the budget was constrained. We wanted to borrow elements from the head office project but with a relatively calmer scheme.
Our first task was to salvage whatever we could from the old shop. We kept some lights, mirrors, even upholstered seat backs to see what we could do. We then trawled through various junk shops, antique shops and even the odd charity shop to source interesting pieces of furniture.
Our designers then set to work on how best to use these pieces. We used the chair backs as bases for some units to add points of interest. Some of the mirrors were painted and rehung. The copper lights were re-used at the entrance. We then discussed hanging and zoning requirements with the client. We added 2 dressing rooms and a large stock room at the back with cost effective off the shelf shelving units.
We sourced a couple of interesting antique dressers and encased them within partitions to give them an interesting fitted look.
